St. Paul writes in Galatians, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” With that calling in mind, our congregation has begun a new prayer blanket ministry. These lap-sized blankets, quilts, and shawls—prepared by the loving hands of our members—will be placed before the Lord during the Prayer of the Church and sent out as tangible reminders of Christ’s compassion and presence. They will go to those facing difficulties of body, mind, or soul; to families rejoicing in thanksgiving for a new birth; and to any in need of comfort. Wherever these blankets are sent, they will carry with them not only warmth, but the promises of our Savior who took our infirmities upon Himself so that we can have life in His name.

We invite those who knit, crochet, quilt, sew, or craft to prayerfully consider taking part in this ministry of mercy. Whether you are highly experienced or simply willing to learn, your time and skill can become an instrument of Christ’s care. Each stitch becomes a quiet petition, each finished piece a proclamation that no one suffers alone in the Body of Christ. If you feel called to serve in this way, please join us as we seek to wrap others in prayer and in the steadfast love of our Lord.
