Quarterly Congregational Meeting

Lunch Fellowship has become a staple of Hope Lutheran Church. Men and women alike provide tasty dishes for all to enjoy. Some of the dishes have become fan-favorites. Others are opportunities to test out some new recipes on willing participants. So…why not have a little fun along the way! Besides, a little friendly competition is good for the soul!

Beginning in May, we will be offering four opportunities to “pit” your favorite dish against your neighbors, with a trophy prize to the victor. We are naming this contest Fun With Food.

• May 10 – Meatball Madness - Bring your favorite meatball recipe. Beef, pork, turkey, venison, it doesn’t matter

• August 9 – BBQ Bonanza - Looking for your tasty and tangy BBQ creations. Anything from sloppy joes to pulled pork, brisket or whatever you want to create

• November 8 – Casserole Carousel - Looking for your favorite casserole dish, perfect for the chilly fall weather. Only requirement…must contain some kind of protein! Remember, it’s a main dish!

• February 14 – The Great Chili Cookoff - What better than a tasty bowl of chili in the dead of a Northwoods winter.

It is important that we still contribute our weekly salads, sides, and desserts to complement the main dishes. Judging will be by your brothers and sisters here at Hope as well as any guests that join us on those Sundays. These will be blind ballots, so you won’t know who provided the dish. (Remember the gingerbread house challenge!) Winners will be announced and trophies presented on the following Sunday. One winner per event. CRAFT CLUB MEETS FIRST WEDNESDAY OF MONTH

The Craft Club meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am-Noon at Hope. Bring whatever you want to work on or just join us for coloring, conversation and fellowship. Members, friends and the community at large are welcome to attend this ongoing event. The group will continue to meet throughout the year. Come check us out and bring a friend!

Kay Yanke is the flower coordinator. If you would like to sponsor flowers, please sign up on the posted sheet on the Narthex bulletin board, and place your information and your check in an envelope and place it in Kay’s mailbox or in the office inbox bin. The cost of a large fresh flower bouquet is $60; another option is artificial flowers - $25 for a small bouquet and $50 for two small or one large bouquet. You may take the arrangement(s) home after the service. Prepayment is required.

 

DVD LENDING LIBRARY

Over the past several years, the congregation has purchased or received as gifts a variety of excellent Christian movies for children and adults.  These DVD's are available for our members to check out and use at home.  In an effort to keep track of these DVD'S, we ask that when borrow an item, you please fill out the card attached to it and place the card in the designated box on the library shelf.  We encourage you to keep them for only one week and then return them to the  Library “Return Basket.”  ENJOY!
